Test mode and practice mode

In test mode you answer every question first and see your score, the time you took and the answers at the end. In practice mode you press Check after each answer to see right away whether it is correct, with the explanation.

How answers are scored

Answers and explanations

QuestionAnswerExplanation
143236 × 10 = 360 and 36 × 2 = 72. 360 + 72 = 432.
2127 × 12 = 84, so 84 ÷ 7 = 12.
37,501Add the columns from the right and regroup when a column reaches 10. The total is 7,501.
43,5432,457 + 3,543 = 6,000, so the difference is 3,543.
556 × 7 = 42, and 47 − 42 = 5.
65/8The bottom numbers match, so add the top numbers: 3 + 2 = 5, giving 5/8.
70.33/10 means 3 tenths, which is 0.3.
86The factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12.
9427 × 6 = 42.
1042028 × 10 = 280 and 28 × 5 = 140. 280 + 140 = 420.
1116824 × 7 = 168.
126Half the perimeter is 15, which is length plus width. 15 − 9 = 6.
13right angleA 90 degree angle is a right angle, like the corner of a square.
147,000The hundreds digit is 5, so round up to 7,000.
151.27 tenths plus 5 tenths is 12 tenths, which is 1.2.

Tips for Grade 4 math

  • For multi-digit multiplication, break one number into tens and ones and add the partial products.
  • Check division by multiplying the answer by the divisor and adding the remainder.
  • List factors in pairs, such as 1 and 12, 2 and 6, 3 and 4, so none are missed.
